This past Friday I participated in a photographer meetup. There is a community within Instagram called H (@hinfluencercollective on IG) - They are basically a group of social influencers that create authentic content for brands. They bring fellow creatives together to be a part of something bigger than themselves. A group of people were on one of their weekend trips and hosted a meetup @ the Valley of Fire. One of these lovely people reached out to me through one of my hashtags on Instagram and asked if I'd like to meet up. I was very excited but incredibly anxious as this was my first time really doing anything like this.
Joe and I left and made it there by 1:30 PM and we all got in a circle and introduced ourselves. After introductions, everyone went off in pairs or groups to scout locations and shoot each other ... (with a camera, of course). We did this at a couple of places - We drove, saw a spot, parked and got out to do our thing.
I was SUPER shy and felt incredibly awkward (This was a huge thing for me - It took me way out of my comfort zone, which was definitely a good thing to say the least). I was absolutely amazed at how talented, fun and cool all the people were! It was so cool to watch others I follow and love on Instagram shoot their photos. It was awesome to see how the models worked with what they were given to create some awesome photos as well. I was so glad and thankful that I got to be part of this. They are doing amazing things and I cannot wait to see what's in store for me!
Also - if you're thinking about doing or even hosting a photography meet-up - DO IT! It will be well worth your time. Take advantage of everything that's going on, also - Don't wait in the sidelines and don't let fear stop you from experiencing new things. Please enjoy the pictures I snapped below!
